Climate Action

When I served on City Council before, I initiated an ordinance to require EV chargers in new development projects. That seemed like a big step then. We need to take bigger steps now.

We need to upgrade infrastructure to handle severe weather events. Upgrading storm sewers is expensive and we should be pursuing state and federal grants aggressively so we're not missing out. Currently we don't have the staff to do this work.

We also need to reduce carbon emissions from City operations. That means installing solar arrays on municipal buildings and moving to electric vehicle fleets. These steps will save money in the long run.

East Lansing should be leading on these issues, but the Council has taken us in a different direction the last four years. Let's take climate action now.
